Winter Villages, Trees & Birds

Fifth, Fourth & Third Grade are working on their Winter Villages. They are using a drawing guide to try new styles of architectural details when drawing buildings and homes. The purpose of the buildings is all up to them. Next week we will add GLITTER and METALLIC details, so exciting!

First and Second Grade are using their observational skills to evaluate a work of art, and create their own inspired by the artist. The discussions were lively and I was amazed by their teamwork when it came to spotting the differences!

They practiced breaking down the birds into basic shapes in order to draw accurately from observation. Then they got to add their details with beak size, feather style, wings and color! Next week they will be making a painting inspired by their sketches.

Kindergarten worked really hard on these multi-step winter trees. They painted the trees using wax resist with crayons and watercolors first. Then they traced a triangle and cut their trees out. They painted their backgrounds and created wax resist snowflakes using oil pastels. Lastly they glued it all together, outlined in black and added glitter!
