Hello to my Jane Ryan Family! I am thrilled to get started in this coming school year and wanted to update you all on some of the new things happening this year.
Our classroom got a big upgrade this year with string lights! They make the room feel very calm, and cozy so we can focus on the art at hand and let our minds go for a wander in our work. The custodians did an amazing job cleaning and shinning the floors for us and I am working tirelessly on making the supplies organized so things can be more self-serve for the students.
A new individual incentive program is starting this year. To reward positive behavior I will now be giving out ART BUCKS! Students can earn these each week by being positive, productive and polite in the art room and each month they can redeem them for something in our Art Store.
Similar to last year we also have our grade wide incentive program. Students work together to earn stars in their jars by showing their Jane Ryan PRIDE. The prize menu has been updated this year to include Art Bingo, Outdoor Art Classes (weather permitting and grade level specific), and Art Parties which also took place last year.
Lastly, our new mural walls have been completed over this summer. I put the finishing touches on the painting and then this last week the custodians hung up the bulletin boards to complete the look. I am thrilled with the impact it makes and hope the students will be too. In the coming weeks there is one more bulletin board to be hung that will display our Artists of the month!
I can't wait to see your kiddos this week, I hope they are excited too!
