Final Winter Villages & Texture Birds!

Fifth, Fourth and Third grade did an awesome job adding delicate details to their Winter Villages to finish them up. They used tiny brushes to enhance their detailed drawings with metallic accents at first and then we broke out the glitter! We thoughtfully placed lines of glue along the roof lines, and thought about where snow would accumulate, as well as snowflakes in the skies. My room is covered in glitter but it was worth it to see these drawings shine.

Second and First grade are continuing on their bird project. They were shocked to hear that we were going to make yet ANOTHER BIRD, you heard that right, ONE MORE BIRD, YOUR BEST BIRD YET! It is a lot for them to practice the artistic process all the way through but I was so proud of them for sticking it out and putting all their effort into it. They started with practice sketches where they learned how to create birds using simple shapes and exploring color combinations.

They created a mid point drawing with their new skills and colored it in with oil pastels.

For their FINAL bird they learned about texture and how to create texture with watercolor paints. Below you will see a first grader carefully placing colorful dabs of paint to create a feathered effect on her bird. Stunning!
