5th grade has been working really hard on some abstract contrast art. They created the backgrounds by pushing a flat marble around the paper with a permanent marker. They then added pattern, and a little bit of color to create a bold graphic but organic background. The following week they created the foreground piece in a similar way but using chalk pastels where they practiced blending, and created a soft, but vibrant piece. By putting the two together they created one artwork that had contrast and created a push and pull with the viewers eyes.
These are their first pieces going into their 5th grade portfolio. The 5th graders will not be bringing their artwork home this year until the very end because they are building portfolios for the 5th grade art show that will take place in May as a way to celebrate their stepping up and growth over their time at Jane Ryan.
K has been working on some seasonal artwork. Cute/spooky pumpkins & scribble monsters which are just adorable and will be hung up early next week to kick off October with.
1st grade, 2nd grade and 3rd grade have been working on making castles filled with architectural details, and TEXTURE! We also colored our skies with bright colors as a new way to approach the skies in our backgrounds different from blue or sunset that they typically favor.
